At the conclusion of our 6 hour program, we provide a validated permit and a certificate of completion for your insurance company. At this point the student will be legal to drive with a licensed driver other than a licensed instructor. We strongly encourage you to review the manual and become familiar with the driving requirements and testing information. Also, please understand the responsibility of a parent or guardian to drive with your child after the permit has been obtained; continued parental involvement in driver education is crucial. Our staff at Right Way recommends upon graduation that parents drive a minimum of 100 hours with their children. These hours should not be used just to determine the teen’s readiness to pass the driver’s test, but they should be used to assess the techniques, driving habits and regularity of safe practices. The parents should also be observant of the teens emotional and confidence readiness to start driving without the guidance of an adult in the vehicle. It is recommended that parents practice with their child soon after the professional training lessons.

The ‘Road Test’ location, time, & date are scheduled for the first available date. A permit must be validated, and all lessons completed 6 months prior to the student’s 17th birthday to be eligible to take a road test on his/her birthday (Or near the birthday happens to fall on a weekend or holiday). If a student fails to complete or waits past this six month mark the student must wait 6 months from the conclusion of the 6 hours.

An appointment is needed to take a road test. The test can either be scheduled online by (clicking here) or by visiting a driver testing center. To apply online, the driver’s license (learning permit) number and the permit validation number are required. You may schedule or change your road test online, by clicking the link below (make sure to print your confirmation page). If you are unable to use our online services, please call The NJMVC or visit a driver testing center.

Id requirement for the road test

This is probably a no-brainer, but if the vehicle you bring to the road test is behind on inspections, registration, insurance, or any other factor that can prohibit you from driving it, the Department of Motor Vehicles will find out, and you will not be able to take the road test in that vehicle. Or the family vehicle is large. The parallel parking space used during the road test is approximately 25 feet long. The larger the family vehicle is, the more problematic it may be for your teen to successfully Parallel Park such a vehicle. Our vehicles fit very comfortably into the parking space at MVC.
