What the 6 Hours Covers
The 6 hours are split into three two-hour sessions so students can absorb the skills and build confidence between lessons:
Session 1 (2 hours) — Vehicle Control and Residential Driving
Pre-drive vehicle check, mirror and seat positioning, smooth starting and stopping, steering control, lane positioning, and driving through residential streets in Cedar Grove with stop signs, pedestrians, and parked cars.
Session 2 (2 hours) — Intersections, Highway, and Lane Changes
Right-of-way at intersections, traffic signal timing, merging onto Route 23 and the Garden State Parkway, lane changes with proper mirror checks, and speed management at residential, town, and highway speeds.
Session 3 (2 hours) — Road Test Maneuvers and Review
Parallel parking, three-point turns, K-turns, stopping on a hill, observation checks, and a full practice run on the actual routes near the Wayne or Lodi MVC testing centers so students know what to expect on test day.
